Lean In

When life gets tough, sometimes you have to just lean in. It sounds like crazy advice, but the best thing you can do if someone is swinging something at you in a fight is to lean in. Getting hit by the base of a baseball bat versus the end of the bat where the velocity is much higher is going to be less damaging. It sounds wild, but when you think about it, it’s correct. Hopefully, none of us will ever be in that situation!

I recently decided to lean in when struggling with a situation at work. There was a lot of work to be done, it had to be done quickly, and it felt pretty overwhelming. There have been similar situations like this in the past. Sometimes I have leaned in and just jumped in to get the work done, and other times I have panicked and freaked out and distracted myself with emotional reactions before jumping into the work. I can tell you that the times I have leaned in and just jumped right into finding solutions and doing the work have been far less stressful to me in the long run. In general, I always find a solution and get the work done, but the times that I stressed out and allowed myself to react emotionally always made the process of completing the work take longer or create a lot of stress for myself. So making a choice versus reacting to a situation really made a huge difference in how I felt during the work. Starting any project in a state of panic or upset is only going to attract more chaotic energy to the flow, but approaching it with calm and focus will help align the best outcome.

I saw an Instagram post that said – “Your greatest asset is your mindset.” It’s so true! You get to choose how you act when things happen. You can choose to react emotionally when things trigger you, or you can learn to stop and choose how you will react to the situation. It doesn’t mean the situation isn’t awful, or annoying, or stressful, but choosing to remain calm and decide how to find a solution versus diving right into the “what ifs” or worst-case scenario in your head will definitely benefit you in the long run. Facing our fears (false evidence appearing real) instead of running from them gives us the upper hand to make better decisions. The situation isn’t likely to just disappear, so the more we face it head-on and lean into it, the greater chance we have to get through it with a more positive outcome. The vibrations you choose will attract situations of a similar vibration. So if I’m in panic mode and feel like nothing is going to work out, well then, I’m telling the future what to align for me. If I choose to think that every challenge has a solution and I know that I have the skills to overcome it, then that’s what the universe is going to send to me.

In any situation, you have the power of choice. The power to choose how you react. The power to choose the vibration you attract at that moment. You can choose to shift from panic to focus, from fear to hope. Lean in to any challenge and you will get a better perspective of the situation, and it will soften the blow of fear or panic. Learning to control your mindset and perspective will give you the tools to face any challenge that arises in your life.
