7 Wonders of Your World

What are the 7 wonders of your life? Your wonders are things or moments in your life that stand out as your greatest passions and accomplishments. I was inspired by this thought when I read The Lemonade Life by Zack Friedman where he mentions this idea.

There are lists of the 7 wonders of the ancient world and of the 7 wonders of the modern world. I have a personal goal to visit all of the 7 wonders of the modern world. I’ve been to 4 so far and have a trip planned to see number 5 next year! The lists were created to pick places that were simply awe-inspiring around the world. To be named to the list meant that someone had an idea that went beyond what had ever been created before and the craftmanship was truly magnificent.

So if we apply that concept to the 7 wonders of our life, it dares to ask – what 7 things in your life have truly inspired you or brought you pride and happiness? As I challenged myself to come up with my own list, I found it fairly easy, but I tend to really honor and appreciate things in my life. So I give you my list and reasoning below.

1. Llamas and Dogs – I am inspired by all animals, but llamas and dogs just make my heart absolutely burst with joy!! I’ve had llamas as a major part of my life since 1987, and I just absolutely knew for certain I would raise llamas one day as I announced it at a friend’s house when I was a pre-teen. I truly felt it in my soul.

2. Raving – I joined the 90’s rave scene in the Midwest full force. I felt like I was “home” at the first party I attended. The music, the dancing, the creativity, the excitement, and the vibration of the people there just filled me with joy. I went to as many as I could. I even opened a record and clothing store for ravers. I helped people throw parties, and I even organized a few 3-day festivals and some other parties long before the festival scene that exists today. That culture defined me, and it still resonates deep within my heart today. Dancing is truly a spiritual experience for me, and I will find any excuse to dance.

3. Travel – I was very lucky to grow up in a family that traveled quite a bit. In junior high, I went on some school trips to Europe and loved every minute of them! My job keeps me traveling around the US often. I also now have the means to travel for pleasure at least a few times a year and take advantage of it as much as I can. My personal goal is to see two new countries a year, You learn so much by visiting other places and seeing how other cultures view the world.

4. MBA – Putting myself through grad school challenged me to not fear taking on some debt to better myself. The first time I was accepted it was done to please my father, and at the time I lacked the confidence to join the class. So I waited a year and went back, however, this time my father wasn’t offering to pay the tuition. It made me appreciate the challenge and what I was learning so much more because I was doing for myself and not to please someone else. I also learned so much and gained a ton of confidence as I rose to the top of the class.

5. Finding a True Love – My husband and I have the most peaceful, loving, supportive relationship that I could ever imagine. It’s the first relationship where I feel that we love each other more every year. After 12 years we simply just enjoy all of our time together while feeling completely comfortable being apart. It’s truly a wonder to have a relationship that inspires me to want to be my best.

6. Connecting with and Coaching Others – Throughout my years I’ve always been the one that people could come to for advice. I try to live my life as an inspiration to others. I really enjoy getting to know people and finding out what inspires them. As a raver, I created a small magazine to pass out at parties and threw parties. Now I working in marekting where I meet people all the time, and I get to write this blog. Hopefully, professional coaching will become a larger part of my life soon.

7. Being a Parent – Let me tell you, being a mother in no way came naturally to me. I would have made a far better father! The pressure of keeping a child alive and doing all the right things has been a continual source of anxiety in my life. I can honestly say that I love my daughter, but if I had it all over to do again, man it would be so much easier to just not be a parent! That being said, I think I did a really good job at it. I have a teenage daughter this is just a shining example of being mature beyond her years, and she truly lives as an example for others to follow as well.

Take some time to think about the 7 wonders of your life. Just like the wonders of the world, you might update them from time to time. Maybe some of your wonders are still to come! What makes you smile with pride? What makes your soul light up? Just thinking about your list should put you in a great mood. Take some time to be grateful for the wonders in your life. Revisit your list anytime you feel down or need to raise your vibration. Life truly is wonderful when you stop to appreciate it!
