You Are the Gift

There is one gift you can give yourself and others that costs nothing at all. Can you bring a little bit more happiness and positivity to this holiday season? Yeah, I know it’s been one drag of a year, but spinning around in circles of complaints, fear, and unhappiness is only gonna bring us more of that next year. You have control over what you say, share, and do. If you fill your conversations with topics of lack, fear, and complaints then you are not giving the gift of positivity to others. You can choose now to give others the gift of positivity. When someone laments about having no hope for 2021, remind them that we never know what might happen so let’s hope for the best and be part of the solution. Instead of reflecting back on how awful things have been this year, let’s re-frame the picture to see what we grew from this year.

I saw a friend post on Facebook and ask others to post about one good thing that came from 2020. There were so many incredible posts. It might seem like everyone is suffering, but I personally know many people who bought their first home this year. Others had healthy babies that are thriving will all the extra attention of having their parents home more often. While I know many who lost jobs, there are just as many who actually started new jobs or finished their degrees this year. So while there was a lot of bad stuff that happened, there were many good things that happened too, so we get to choose which ones we talk about and share. I lost jobs this year, but I also got into awesome shape during all my free time. I lost an elderly dog, but I also worked to rehabilitate my other older dog who is thriving right now. So instead of sitting around in sadness for one loss, I choose to focus on the joy of seeing another experience a whole new life. By keeping my focus on the positive, I keep my own happiness level high so that I can be that positive influence on the people in my own life. I don’t post negativity on social media. I post my wins and stay authentic to my goal of inspiring others to find more happiness in their own lives. This is how I hope I’m a gift to those who read these posts.

How are you showing up for the people in your life? Are you bringing the joy this holiday season? Can you be the gift of positivity that we all need right now? Take time to think before you post, call, or visit. Be a gift. Your circle of people need you. We all need you. So wrap it up and put a bow on it because this year you are the gift!! Let me know how you are showing up for the people in your life this year!
