The Privilege of Enlightenment

Gratitude is really coming up often in popular culture lately. Oprah has touted gratitude, and any number of self-help experts recommend starting or ending your day with a moment to reflect on the things you are grateful for in your life. #blessed is always tranding on social media. I’m not knocking it; I highly recommend it as well. It can be hard to find time to just stop and appreciate things like a heart that keeps beating to keep you alive, the planet that continues to survive even with all we have put it through, or just the simple fact that you woke up today. The mere fact that you have time and the ability to read this blog is a blessing.

There are so many humans on this planet that will not have the opportunity for enlightenment, simply because they are living in a survival mode. Even beyond those that live in poverty or war-torn areas, the vast majority of people in the US still live paycheck to paycheck. Something like the current US government shutdown has sent tens of thousands of families into survival mode. Sure, they may stop to still be thankful for what they still have or share thoughts of gratitude, but those in survival mode will have a hard time finding enough peace for enlightenment. We all have moments in life when we operate from survival mode, or times when we just can’t focus enough to think about it.

So if you are #blessed to have the time to stop and contemplate life beyond survival, it’s a gift you dare not waste. As you slowly shift away from survival and begin to pursue the path of enlightenment, of connection to more than just what you can see with the naked eye, with the insight to know you are more than the cells that make up your body, you will become empowered with the ability to understand how you can affect the world around you with your energy. You begin to understand there is a creative force that ties everything in existence together. You learn that you are one tiny part of this incredibly immense whole that stretches beyond what the human mind could ever understand.

So if we are just these tiny specs in this huge universe, how is it that we can actually make a difference? Well, that, in fact, is exactly why you can make a difference because what you do has effects that reach far beyond yourself. Your smile could change someone’s life. Your positive attitude will expand out and have an effect on everyone you pass. We are all connected through energy and vibration. Whether you are conscious of it or not, your energy affects everything and everyone around you. They have an effect on you as well. Ever feel an instant connection to someone? That’s because you share a similar vibration. And conversely, if there are poeple that just rub you the wrong way, it’s because their energy is not in alignment with yours.

So when you have a grateful attitude, you are more likely to attract positive experiences into your life. When you understand how your attitude and vibration affects your life and the world around you, that is enlightenment. You now have the gift of a conscious realization that your thoughts, your emotions, and your actions will change the world around you. Just like magnetic forces attract similar energies, if you give out a high vibration, that is what you will attract. If you spend your time focused on negative news stories or surrounded by lower vibration people, they are going to eventually affect your vibration level.

So those that are blessed with this gift of enlightenment have the ability to consciously change the world. So get out there and share that gift by controlling your emotions, raising the vibrations, and doing things that make you happy. Your joy will be contagious. Your energy will help others. None of us have the time to personally go out and help everyone in need, but we can begin to share our light and attact situations and people that we can help just by putting that intention out there. So as you are reflecting on the things to be grateful for, put enlightenment on that list. You do have a super power, and it’s a lot more accessible than you might have known. Get out there and shine and watch the world become a brighter place. You just might help enlighten someone else, and that my dears improves the world for us all!
