Unless you are perfectly happy in life, there’s probably something you would like to change. So what kind of fuel is driving you to change? Are you driven by love or fear? Are you motivated to work out because you hate your body, or because you love it so much that you want it to feel even better? Are you looking for a relationship because you hate being lonely, or are you looking for someone to share your happiness with? Your drive to change can be fueled by many things, so have you stopped to see what’s moving you towards your goals?
I have had a dream to start this business that I’ve been picturing for years in my head. Clearly, at least for me, a big motivation to start a business is to make money. But the fear of losing money has also been holding me back. So to change that I’m working on focusing my fuel to be the “why” of my business. Why do I want to start this business? Why do I believe that it will benefit others? Why wouldn’t I be happy if it changed a few lives in the process, even if it wasn’t a huge financial success? Why would I want to feel regret if I never take action on it if it means this much to me now? The main driving factor in my business is to create more happiness and positivity in the world, so if I can use that fuel to drive my actions, I’m bound to be successful in many ways. Love will get me farther than the fear of losing money!
Have you ever tried to lose weight because you hated how you looked? Did it work? Did you keep the weight off? What if you saw exercise as a gift to yourself instead of a punishment for eating too much? What if you dared to stop looking for someone to complete you and instead focused on going out and having fun while knowing you will attract more people to you while you are out being happy? What if you did your very best at work and learned to love being a top performer, knowing that your positive work ethic might catch the eye of future employers?
Fueling change with love instead of fear is like boosting your change engine with nitrous! You can raise your vibration and attract more positive outcomes. Loving my body as it looks right now helps me reach my goals of improved fitness even quicker. One funny example is that for most of my life I had not been fond of my voluptuous thighs. I read in a book once that you should thank the extra fat on your body for serving its purpose, but let it know you now release it. So from time to time, I rub the chub on my thighs and say “thank you for hanging out with me, but it’s time to go.” So by changing that dislike over to gratitude, the energy instantly shifts. I still have some large thighs, but now they are mostly muscle and help me run, bike, and climb mountains. I don’t dislike them anymore. A little bit of gratitude shifted a lifetime of negative energy towards myself.
I promise you that a change that is fueled by love and appreciation will be a change that stays with you. What changes are you working on?
